1. About these terms
These Terms of Use cover using the Questly desktop app (“the App”). They go together with the Terms of Service, which cover this website and downloads, and the Privacy Policy. By installing or using the App, you agree to all three.
2. What the App does
When you press Play, the App starts a small stand-in program named like the real game's program. Discord sees a program with that name running and shows you as playing the game. The App can stop it for you after a set time, wait for Discord to report the game before counting, and do this for several games. It doesn't install games, sign in to Discord, or change Discord's files.
3. Your Discord account is your responsibility
Pretending to play a game in order to complete Discord Quests or earn rewards very likely breaks Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines and the rules of each Quest. If Discord notices, it may:
- remove or take back quest rewards such as Orbs, avatar decorations or in-game items;
- warn you, or limit what your account can do;
- suspend your account for a while, or ban it permanently, which can mean losing your servers, messages, friends and any Nitro or purchases.
You choose to take that risk. The Questly project and its contributors are not responsible for any of these consequences and can't reverse them. Questly makes no promise that it's undetectable or “safe” to use.
4. The notice in the App
Before you can use the App, it asks you to confirm that you understand these risks. It keeps a note that you confirmed, and when, on your PC only. You can read the notice again at any time from Settings.
5. No guarantees
Discord can change how it detects games or how quests work at any time, so features may stop working and quests may not complete. Quests that require streaming, a console, or doing something inside the game aren't supported. We don't promise updates, fixes or support.
6. Things you agree not to do
- Use the App on Discord accounts that aren't yours.
- Sell or trade accounts, rewards or items obtained with the App, or run the App for other people as a paid service.
- Use the App to get around a suspension or ban, or to harm, deceive or impersonate other people.
- Bundle the App with malware, or pass off a modified version as the official Questly.
7. Automatic features
- Legitimate Buddy opens and closes games from your library by itself while you're away, within the limits you set, and needs Launch on startup. If you allow it, it can also open and close Discord. It only runs when you turn it on, stops when you come back (unless you change that), and can be turned off at any time.
- Performance Guard is a best-effort helper that closes Questly's games when your PC seems busy. It doesn't guarantee performance and doesn't protect your hardware.
- Panic Abort stops everything Questly started. It doesn't affect other programs.
- Launch on startup adds Questly to the programs Windows starts when you sign in. Turn it off in Settings at any time.
8. Your PC
The App installs just for your Windows user (no admin rights) and creates the files and entries listed in the Privacy Policy. The stand-in programs don't do anything except exist and, if you like, show a small window. Some antivirus products may flag unsigned or uncommon programs; if in doubt, check the source code or build the App yourself.
9. Updates and uninstalling
The App doesn't update itself. New versions are published on this website and on GitHub. You can uninstall at any time from Settings → Installation, or from Windows Settings → Apps.
10. Liability
The App is provided “as is”, without any warranty. The warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability in the Terms of Service apply to the App as well.
